I had a pretty good time this weekend. Sat, I went bowling with bdragon and company. We were all silly and it was fun. I even did pretty well, for me, with a high score of 71. Go me! Heh. After bowling, we went out for dinner at The Blue Room. Yum! And then we had a viewing of BSG before I headed home for the evening. So that was a good day.

Sun was my day to putz around the house. I went grocery shopping. Very exciting. Made myself breakfast. And then, once again, Gwydion proved that he has more fluff than brains by jumping onto the stove about 3 seconds after I had turned the burner off. Thankfully, he doesn't appear to have burned his feet, but he did singe the fur on his belly. In case you were wondering, burning cat fur smells very bad. VERY BAD. Stupid cat. I had to open all my windows to air out the apartment.

The rest of the day was uneventful. I did some cleaning, and some crafting, and watched TV. Later, I got to talk to extra_joker for a bit, which was nice. It feels like we haven't talked in forever.

So, that's my weekend in a nutshell. Hope you are all having a wonderful Monday morning. I know I am. Hey, at least I am in a place that doesn't smell like burning cat.

This week has gone by really quickly. My new job keeps me busy at work, and the time just flies by. I also got to go to movie night this week and visit with dionethoughts and bdragon, and we watched my DVD of Dr Horrible. Yay! We also watched the musical commentary, which if you haven't had a chance to watch it yet, you should, because it was Hilarious.

I don't really have plans for this weekend, but I have a so much stuff to do that I am sure that I will keep busy. I am also trying to figure out if I have funds to go see Flogging Molly and/or EtH in Mar.

Well, it has taken me all day to write this simple post. Crazy, huh?

I had a great weekend that involved fiber, apple picking, belly dancing, margaritas, and good friends. But I worked a 13 hour shift today and I am too tired to write about it.

*Also, I am very nearly over the plague*

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. They were much appreciated. Despite having the plague, I am having a good birthday month so far. I had a visit from bdragon and extrajoker on the big day. I had hoped to go out and do something fun and interesting, but due to illness, ended up wrapped in a blanket, watching bad movies on the sci-fi channel. At least there was cake. Mmmm....cake.

Had dinner at my dad's house, and yet more cake. So not, you know, the most exciting birthday ever, but still full of chocolately goodness.

Last night, I went to Cirque du Soleil with the family. It was very cool. Ran into geekpixie at the show, weirdly enough. Everything was pretty interesting, but my favorite acts were the contortionists, the unicycle duo and the wheel of death.

That about wraps up the birthday celebrations, though the rest of the month has a trip to the NY Sheep & Wool Festival, a TMBG concert, possibly another fiber festival, and a visit with reverendtom and ionia_dreaming in the works, so whatever else it is, it won't be dull.

Happy Birthday to Me! (a little early)

My mom and my sister bought me an iPod nano for my birthday! In green. It's pretty darned cute, I have to say.

I don't know why they call it a sleep lab

Last night was interesting. I got to the sleep lab, got into my pajamas and the technician proceeded to stick things to my face, neck, scalp, legs, chest and side. Oh, and up my nose. Awesome! There were wires everywhere. The technician was funny and we had a good chat while all this was going on and then she helped me into bed so she could hook up the wires to the machines which would be monitoring me all night. After we tested everything to make sure every twitch, cough, and thought would be recorded for posterity, she shut off the overhead light and closed the door.

The room was equipped with a tv (that was actually hooked up to cable, despite the disclaimer stating otherwise on the literature sent to me by the facility), and a reading lamp. I read for a while and watched TV. I wasn't really comfortable, and every time I moved the wires got in my way. Knowing that they intended to wake me at 5 am, and being really tired from a bad night's sleep the night before, I tried to go to sleep at around 10:30. It felt like it took forever to fall asleep, but it's hard to judge those things. I slept about as well as I normally do, which is to say not well at all, and woke up with a horrendous headache.

When the technician came in to "wake" me, she said, "Do you always sleep like that?" When I nodded, she responded by saying something to the effect of, "That was terrible. You were awake more than you were asleep. No wonder you are always tired."

*sigh* I won't know the full results until the doctor has had a chance to analyze the 800 pages or so of data. Hopefully, something useful will come of all of this.

Because food is a very important part of my life:

Last night, at movie night, D made pasta with meat sauce! It was very tasty. There were also cupcakes that were chocolatey and delicious.

Today is beef stew in a bread bowl day. Yum! Now I feel like it is Autumn.

I bought a 3 lb "Variety Pack" of Swedish Fish and Sour Patch Kids and was very disappointed to find that it contained only 1 pack of Swedish Fish. Am thinking about complaining to the company in the hopes of scoring free Swedish Fish.

You know what I hate? Someone calling me at 6 am, and then hanging up when I answer the phone.

Had a pretty good day today. My sister, her boyfriend and my nephews are in town. Yay! And today was L's birthday. I still can't really believe that he is 17. That makes me feel so old. So we pretty much just hung out and relaxed today, and then had dinner and cake and ice cream. Nothing too exciting, but I enjoyed spending time with the family. Tomorrow we are all heading up to Maine to go to the beach. Not my favorite way to spend the day, but we are well stocked with sunscreen and shade for pale little me, so hopefully I won't get too burned.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hooray for the weekend!

I really like watching the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. Is that hopelessly dorky?

Seriously, though, for someone who really has no interest in sports, I find the Olympics weirdly fascinating.

I have a good weekend planned. Have tickets to watch some baseball with bdragon, and hopefully the weather will cooperate. Sunday I am probably going to see TMBG. In my spare time, I have a bunch of crafting to do for a Dresden Dolls themed swap, and a resume to put together. Hopefully there will be enough hours in the weekend to accomplish everything I want to get done.

Today was a good day. Got up super early to go to the bookstore with M, so she could get a copy of Breaking Dawn and I ended up buying some books myself (big surprise). And then we went out for breakfast. Even though it meant that my day started much earlier that I would normally like on a Saturday, it was a good start to the day. We talked about books and work, our teaching experiences and plans for the future and all kinds of stuff.

Even though I was tired at that point, and really wanted to take a nap, instead I did my best to clean up the apartment a little, and then had the pleasure of having dionethoughts, greenskinjunky come out for a visit. We were joined after a while by bdragon and spent the afternoon with some movies and chinese food, and a very happy Gwydion. I am so glad that they were able to visit with me as it feels like I haven't really seen much of anyone lately, and it was nice to have company.

Even though it's still early, I think it's time to settle in for the evening with a book, and a kitty who is insisting that no one has ever pet him ever, despite evidence to the contrary.

One of the pics from camping this weekend:

The fishies were very intrigued by the strings hanging from my pants.

So, here's a big surprise. I've put some more pictures up in my Flickr account. What? You're not surprised? Well, here's the link anyway: More Pictures!

Actually am very nearly done with the vacation pics, so may be returning to something resembling normal posting soon.

Is it too late for more pictures?

Too bad.

Here's the link to the third set: Clicky

These include the pics from our boat trip to Staffa, which is probably my favorite part of the vacation. Enjoy! I am off to bed now.

Okay, not really. I am off to watch incredibly bad tv, and maybe do some reading.

I have finished sorting through all of the pictures and deciding which ones I am going to share. So as not to totally overwhelm you, I will be posting them in small doses. The first set covers Sat - Mon, much of which was spent traveling.

What is it with old men and speedos? Seriously. Do you turn 70 and then displaying your package to everyone suddenly seems like the greatest of all possible ideas? And if you are going to wear a speedo...do you need to wear knee high socks with your sandals? My mind is boggled...and permanently scarred.

So, I was going to run to the store to pick up some food and drinks. I go out to the car, try to start it...Nothing. Battery warning light comes on. Pop the hood, and see that one of the belts has snapped. Get it to the garage, and sure enough, I need a new alternator. *sigh* At least I found out today, and not tomorrow when I tried to go to work. I am pretty sure they would frown upon me missing work the day I am supposed to return from vacation.

Anyway...in better news...here are a few pictures to tide you over until I can really go through them. clicky )

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say that I am home safely from my vacation, and I had a great time. Will be posting in more detail later (including lots of pictures - I took just over 900 of them, which may have been a bit excessive, but there it is).
